agenda, rigid heddle, Spinning, weaving

2/3/18 Meeting

We had a great meeting this Saturday. Show and Tell is one of our favorite parts of the meeting. We had quite a variety. It ranged from a knitting project using yarn from the Annual Dog Party, hand spun hat (first hand spinning from a member), projects from the  studio (including a vertical warping board with a heck block), sheep breed shawl project, knitted shawl, a baby sling, rigid heddle scarves, and roving from Iceland.  If this doesn’t motivate you, I don’t know what will.

Our program was on our social presence. This website was explained to members. We also discussed Instagram, our closed Facebook group, and the open Facebook group. We looked at Ravelry to see how our guild library is being organized. At the end of the program, we shared various websites that we use. If you forget any of the sites, please click on the minutes.

April 1, 2017 Meeting

There were no April Fool’s jokes with our monthly meeting. We had a great time at the studio. After our business meeting, there was show & tell. It was quite a variety of spinning & weaving. After show & tell, the program began.

Tanya & Debbie continued with their instructional program with weft- & warped-faced weaves on the rigid heddle. We learned about Ghiordes Knots to give that ‘piled’ look on a weave. Then we learned about weaving bands on rigid heddles, inkle looms, and a band loom.
