October Meeting

The focus of our monthly meeting was on drop spindles. There are so many ways of ‘making’ yarn. Why not add one more way. Drop spindles are very portable. We heard about drop spindles and turkish spindles. We even saw examples of 3D printed spindles.

Mary did a great job of going over the history of a drop spindle. She was able to walk, talk, and spin at the same time. For some of us, this will be our goal. The guild has some drop spindles in case you are interested.

November & December will be focused on weaving towels using a rigid heddle. Make sure to check your home email about what you need to do to prep for our meeting. See you on November 3rd, 10:00 a.m., at the studio.

April 1, 2017 Meeting

There were no April Fool’s jokes with our monthly meeting. We had a great time at the studio. After our business meeting, there was show & tell. It was quite a variety of spinning & weaving. After show & tell, the program began.

Tanya & Debbie continued with their instructional program with weft- & warped-faced weaves on the rigid heddle. We learned about Ghiordes Knots to give that ‘piled’ look on a weave. Then we learned about weaving bands on rigid heddles, inkle looms, and a band loom.
